Kick for Peace
Observed in honour of the United Nations International Day of Sports for Peace and Development. Kick for Peace is an annual novelty football match hosted every 6th April by Arm the child foundation with the sole objective of preaching and advocating for peace across Nigeria through soccer. The first edition of Kick for Peace was hosted in 2018 and ATCF has since hosted 2 more editions in 2019 and 2021 respectively.
The games usually involve a friendly match between internally displaced persons and other football teams invited from across the Federal Capital Territory.
Disarm Rape Culture
Disarm Rape Culture is a sensitization and advocacy initiative against rape culture triggered by the high number of rape cases that stemmed from the early phase of the Covid-19 lockdown. The sensitization was conducted in three phases between June and July 2020.
The first phase of the sensitization took place at Camp David Learning Centre close to Durunmi IDP camp where fathers, mothers and children were hosted in groups and sensitized on what rape is, the effect on its victims and the need to end rape culture. The second phase was hosted at the New Kuchingoro IDP camp while the third was hosted at the park for commercial bike riders in front of Parkview Estate, Airport road.
Raising a Generation of Boys With Voices
Raising a Generation of Boys With Voices is an advocacy event put together in honour of “International Day of the Boy Child” to lend our voices to gender equality from the perspective of the male gender. The first episode held virtually on May 18th, 2020 with over 200 hundred participants.
